Good day to you all! Summer and our beloved sea time is here once more! Since our February edition, much water has run under our keel.

John Grahame - EditorOur proposed Captain, Christine Chesterman, has now passed her Transport Canada 60-ton license and is now qualified to be captain of "Black Jack". It is with regret, however, that we have to report that our new Captain, Christine Chesterman, was involved in a serious automobile accident during the week of May 21. Her injuries are serious but not life threatening. She will therefore be unable to carry out her duties as Captain of "Black Jack" until she recovers. We all wish her a speedy recovery. In the meantime, our much-experienced Captain Jason McNaught will fill in for Christine until she returns.

Captain Sam Drinnan will once again command "Fair Jeanne" on her adventurous summer with some 1812 re-enactments taking place. Our "Mr. Guns" has all our 10 muzzle loading cannon for overhaul and "Fair Jeanne" will be blazing away at all who challenge her.

"Black Jack" will proceed with her regular programs, training boys and girls, 12 years old and up, in basic seamanship, on 5-day voyages throughout the summer.

Our illustrious Executive Director, Mary Acton-Bond, will exit the quarterdeck temporarily for maternity leave. Kate Knight will take over as Executive Director in Mary's absence. Jayme Paterson will stay ashore this summer and assist our shore administration. See their biographies in "Just off the Wireless.
