Adult Voyages

Have you ever wondered what it must have been like to sail aboard a square-rigged tall ship and to live the life of a new sailor? Here is your opportunity to experience the most exhilarating educational adventure of your life aboard the brigantine Fair Jeanne! You will have the experience of taking a turn at the helm, helping in hoisting, trimming and lowering the sails, charting a course, keeping the ship's log and participating in other on-board activities. No previous experience needed. During the voyage, a guest speaker will share his/her knowledge of the origins and customs behind our maritime traditions, our naval heritage and maritime aspects of local history.

Those willing and able will be permitted to climb aloft in the rigging and forward in the head rig. Life aboard can be physically demanding (steep stairs, moving deck). You must be in reasonable physical condition. Participation in the operation of the vessel and light chores is expected. Accommodations are on the spartan side: upper and lower bunks, 6 - 8 persons per room. There are NO single rooms. Three shared heads (toilets) for 30 persons. No smoking.

Two hundred years ago, a state of war between the British Empire and the United States of America was declared on June 18, 1812. This historical event will be recalled when the Brigantine Fair Jeanne hoists her anchor and departs Kingston, Ontario on June 20 to engage the ‘enemy’ in an exciting re-enactment battle at Rochester, New York.

Following a three-day skirmish, we will celebrate our adventure by sailing home via the waters of the famous 1000 Islands, visiting other interesting ports along the way. By the afternoon of June 26, we’ll be back in Kingston harbour with many tales to tell about our great adventure of 2012.

Along with all the excitement and fun of the re-enactment, this is also your opportunity to experience a sailor’s life aboard a tall ship. You can take a turn at the helm, help in hoisting, trimming and lowering the sails, chart a course, keep the ship's log and participate in many other on-board activities.

Your fee for this incredible 6-day sailing and re-enactment adventure includes your on-board meals, accommodations and use of period costume.

Come along and sail into history with us. No previous sailing/re-enactment experience required.
