Since 2011 Bytown Brigantine Academy has offered experiential secondary school credits on board the sail training vessel, SV Fair Jeanne. A hands-on approach to education, BBA combines theoretical and practical experience in a demanding, yet rewarding marine environment in an effort to develop leadership, confidence and self-reliance.

Courses take place during our 21-day voyages and have previously included Leadership and Healthy Active Lifestyles. During these course students have had the opportunity to learn navigation, watch-keeping, scuba diving and flat-water kayaking.

In 2013 students will earn Drama credits through ‘living’ history; sailing alongside other tall ships between Canadian and American ports, participating in large-scale re-enactments and engaging in mock sea-battles with plenty of cannon fire.
