Two Trips in June

The goal for an adult voyage is to give the participants the opportunity to sail a tall ship. Everyone signs aboard as a working member of the crew. It dose not matter your experience level or your physical ability as long as you are keen and willing to learn about the traditional art of sailing a brigantine. The two adult voyages in June are open to anyone who is over the age of 18. We try to provide a multi generational program that is as inclusive as possible. There will be lessons on basic theory of sail, parts of the ship as well as navigation. Participants will stand a regular watch of at least 4 hours. Everyone will be given the opportunity to climb aloft if they would like to. Everyone will actively participate in setting and dousing sails as well as steering the ship and navigating through the buoyed waters of the St. Lawrence River.

September

The voyage that is scheduled for September 14-20 is also meant to provide participants with an experience of sailing on a traditional brigantine. This trip will also include a lecture series about the history and culture of the area as well as welcome dinner in Brockville Ontario, the voyage will begin in Brockville and will sail through the Thousand Islands and will venture into Lake Ontario, weather permitting. Potential ports of call include Picton ON, Alex Bay NY, Kingston ON, Gananoque ON, Brockville, ON and Clayton, NY.

Activity Level

Those willing and able will be permitted to work aloft in the rigging and forward in the head rig. Site conditions are physically demanding (steep stairs, moving deck). Participants must be in reasonable physical condition. Participation in operation of the vessel and light chores is expected.
