Black Jack Pays Her Respects - 1990s

Black Jack’s story in pictures

1992 - Black Jack at the 200th anniversary of Simcoe's landing on Niagara-on-the-Lake 1995 - BYC Centennial. Black Jack salutes BYC on her Centennial of Corporation. Throught the last half of the century the Jack has served her crew at their weddings and for the scattering of their ashes. She has ben there for us during the best of times and the worst of times. Once more, Black Jack portages to Lake Ontario to take part in the 200th anniversary re-enactment of Simcoe's landing at Niagara-on-the-Lake. As flagship of a squadron of tall ships, the Jack sailed across the Lake from Toronto with her crew of re-enactors. Skipper swallows the anchor... Skipper Simon and his bride Lynn are married in June 1999. The crew of the Jack dress the ship with lights for the night time departure from the reception at the "Moorings" and the start of their honeymoon. Captain T.G. Fuller dies in May of 1994 and Black Jack, in the time honoured tradition, mourns for her Captain as she lays at anchor in front of the Fuller estate, with her yards and rigging in disarray. Then, after firing a seven gun salute from her cannon, the ship is smartly squared away.
