OUR MISSION

Tall Ships Adventure is dedicated to providing education and training in a demanding and rewarding environment to allow participants to develop qualities of leadership and self-reliance as well as long-lasting friendships through the medium of sailing vessels and shore-based programs.

Tall Ships Adventure is committed to never leaving a young person ashore for want of funds, never leaving a ship alongside if she could be sailing, and never sailing with an empty berth.

ABOUT US

Tall Ships Adventure is a registered non-profit organization in Canada. We are a youth sail training organization run and lead by youth.  We mainly sail all around the Great Lakes with a couple of voyages in the North Atlantic Ocean. Our adventures are mainly for youth and teens aged 12-18. However, we have a few adult voyages that take place in the fall.

Not only is an adventure on one of our tall ships the best trip to have during summer vacation, but it's also a fantastic opportunity to gain an extra high school credit while you're at it. Our Bytown Brigantine Academy is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is a professional marine training facility certified by Transport Canada.

For 30+ years, Tall Ships Adventure has been an organization for youth, run by youth. Our program dates back to one young teenager who stubbornly believed that he could take a lonely and unused sailing ship, refit the vessel into active duty and then sail it to Quebec City with a youth crew to participate in an international tall ship event.

Our founder, Simon Fuller, stood before the tall ship Black Jack as a teenager and dreamed of adventure under sail. He believed that young people, with the right support, determination, practice, and resolve, could achieve the loftiest of goals and the highest responsibilities, regardless of age.
