Captain Thomas & Jeanne Fuller Bursary Fund

Providing youth with the opportunity to reach new heights

The late Captain Thomas. G. Fuller DSC**, renowned WWII Navy Captain and “Pirate of the Adriatic” designed and built the Fair Jeanne in his backyard, naming the vessel after his beautiful wife. It is by their example that tall ship sailing with Bytown Brigantine builds confidence and self-esteem, inspires leadership and good citizenship while fostering life-long friendships between youth.

The Captain Thomas and Jeanne Fuller Bursary Fund exists to ensure that youth who would like to set sail are not left ashore for lack of funds. Download the 2020 Bursary Application and submit it with your registration form.  The office will be in touch to arrange an in-person or phone meeting with the youth and a parent/guardian.

If you would like to make a donation to the bursary fund, 100% of your donation is directed to supporting a youth to sail aboard. Bytown Brigantine issues charitable tax receipts for all donations and is a Canadian registered charity, 118822253RR0001

Crossing the Bar
Alfred Tennyson, 1889

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar
When I put out to sea;
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark;
For, though from out our bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

On Sunday, December 17th, 2018 in the warm glow of the sunset and evening star, at The Moorings, surrounded by her loving family, while overlooking Britannia Bay, Jeanne Fuller crossed the bar reuniting with her beloved husband, Captain T.G. Fuller – together for eternity.

A wonderful life indeed. Her example of unconditional love, kindness, generosity, and sense of the moment will be commended to our hearts and enrich our lives for all the rest of our days.

The Captain T.G. Fuller Bursary Fund, has for over 23 years, providing youth with the opportunity to sail aboard Fair Jeanne and Black Jack.

As founding patron of Bytown Brigantine, Jeanne Fuller’s generousity has for over 30 years, ensured that no youth was left ashore for want of funds.  Now the Captain Thomas & Jeanne Fuller Bursary Fund will honour their combined legacy of leadership, resourcefulness, confidence, kindness and generousity.
