SAILING INTO A HEALTHY LIFE - AQUATICS GRADE 11/12
PAQ-3O – Healthy Living and Aquatic Activities
Sail into Healthy Active Living aboard the Fair Jeanne on one of her 14-Day voyages to earn an open high school credit. This course is all about learning the skills required to live a healthy life now and in the future. Students will develop problem-solving and analytical skills, work on planning, setting, and achieving goals, as well as develop character, a sense of self, and how to be a contributing member of a dynamic team. These are the same values we promote aboard our ships, making the TS Fair Jeanne the perfect place to take this invaluable high school course. In addition to your time spent learning on the ship, the course begins with daily virtual sessions in the 4 days leading up to your trip. This is an opportunity to meet many of your fellow trainees over the web and get a head start building new friendships even before you set out for open water!
SAIL INTO LEADERSHIP -GRADE 11/12
GPP30 – Leadership & Peer Support
What better way to learn how to be a leader and support your peers than by taking on the challenge of learning to sail an authentic tall ship? This course develops student’s interpersonal relations, teamwork, and communication skills. Students will receive training in conflict resolution and peer support. Living on a ship for 2 weeks is a great place to test your new skills. In addition to your time spent learning on the ship, the course begins with daily virtual sessions in the 4 days leading up to your trip. This is an opportunity to meet many of your fellow trainees over the web and get a head start on making new friends before you set out for open water!
LEARNING WHILE YOU SAIL!
Trainees who register for a voyage aboard Fair Jeanne are given the option to also register for the high school credit that will be taught before and during the voyage. The required 110 hours will be completed with hands-on learning that is combined with their sailing experience.
Bytown Brigantine Academy is the only sail training organization in Ontario that offers the option of earning a high school credit as part of their voyages.
We continue to work with our faculty to minimize the spread of Covid-19. This summer, Bytown Brigantine Academy is offering courses that combine interactive virtual and in-person learning.

ABOUT THE ACADAMY
An Ontario independent school inspected by the Ministry of Education, the Academy was established in 2011 and operates for high school students grades 9 to 11.
BBA commits itself to provide lasting and meaningful change in our students. High School courses are taught to emphasize a direct relationship between the learning material of the course & the world ashore.
BBA instructors are creative, energetic and qualified educators who are supported by a qualified professional crew aboard a ship. Educators have an experiential education background and a keen interest in Tall Ship Sailing.
These training programs are meant to provide an opportunity for keen sailors to reach ahead in their Bytown Brigantine Log Book Levels as well as learn important seamanship skills that they can bring with them on their future voyages with us or any other vessel. These Training Programs can be combined with a High School Credit Course for a 20% discount on the less expensive one of the two courses.
