SAMPLE PACKING LIST

We recommend writing your last name on/inside all of your items to prevent them from getting lost or confused with someone else's. You will be living in close quarters, so there is no room for extra gear. Except for your sleeping bag, you must be able to fit all your gear in a duffle bag roughly 36” x 14".

Below is a sample packing list. You will receive the one specifically for your adventure when you register.

ESSENTIALS

Clothes

*tasteful logos only

2 pairs non-skid, non-marking closed-toe shoes (one may get wet)
1 pair water/river closed-toe shoes
Rain jacket and rain pants
Warm wind-blocking jacket (non-cotton)
Leggings/long johns (preferably wool)
2 pairs quick-dry shorts
2 pairs long trousers (non-cotton)
2–4 short or long-sleeved shirts
1 fleece or sweater
Socks and underwear for each day of the camp/voyage (wool socks recommended)
Sunglasses with safety strap
Suitable sleepwear (no nightgowns)
Swimsuit
Toque (for cold night watches)
Sports hijab (if applicable, for safety)

Items

Freshly laundered sleeping bag with a bed sheet or removable cotton liner
Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries and a spare bulb
Mess kit (fork, knife, spoon, plate, bowl, cup/mug — all unbreakable)
Wash kit (eco-friendly soap, shampoo, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant)
Fully brimmed hat (baseball cap minimum; tasteful logos only)
Non-aerosol, waterproof sunscreen (SPF 15+)
Water bottle (unbreakable)
BBI Logbook (provided)
Notebook and pen
Small pillow
Rigging knife (Fair Jeanne Voyages only; suggested: Davis Deluxe Knife)

Personal navigation equipment
Reading materials
Small musical instruments
Camera (other than your phone as phones will be stored with the captain)
A small amount of spending money may be brought, to be labeled and handed to the Captain for safe keeping
Small amount of laundry detergent (pods or powder – not liquid)
