Welcome to the World of Tall Ship
Adventure!
Bytown Brigantine Inc. is a non-profit
charitable organization, dedicated to building
character through the adventure of tall ship
sail training.
Bytown Brigantine can become a year-round
passion. In addition to our popular summer
youth programs, we offer
“weekend-away” training sessions
throughout the winter as well as lots of
opportunities to volunteer as crew for special
events. There are even opportunities to sail in
the exciting waters of the Caribbean. For young
people with demonstrated needs, a bursary fund is available
to cover the modest program fees.
Our trainees, young and old, come away from
trips with broad smiles, newfound friends and
vows to return. In fact, many return each year
for different voyages that build on their new
nautical skills and to rekindle the passion
they find for life on a traditional sailing
ship.
Bytown Brigantine strives to provide the
highest standard of adventure, education and
traditional seamanship training in a safe
environment. Built as replicas of traditional
18th century brigantines, they are modern in
every respect, built of strong materials and
carrying the latest in electronic navigation
and emergency equipment.
Our modest prices reflect our non-profit
status and are intended to recover the costs of
sustaining these unique ships for the young
people of Canada.
The Education Coordinator, Mary Acton-Bond, is
in contact with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Program talking about a partnership. We will be able
to use all the elements of the program for
participants earn their bronze, silver and gold
level awards.
If you are a participant in the Bytown
Brigantine programs and are interested in earning a
Duke of Edinburgh Award as well, please call the
office to find out more.

Opportunities
Voyages to and from Halifax
During the summer of 2009, the STV Fair Jeanne will be making a voyage from Brockville, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The planed 21-day voyages out and back did not seem to be very popular, so we added some shorter voyages as part of the overall trip to the East Coast. Check out the new voyage dates on the Dates and Fees page.
While in Halifax, July 16-20, 2009, we will be participating in the Tall Ship Atlantic Challenge 2009 activities in this host port.
Tall ships from around the world will be in Halifax for this event presenting wonderful opportunities
for participants from Fair Jeanne to meet sailors off ships from other countries.
After leaving Halifax, Fair Jeanne will not be participating in the races back across the Atlantic Ocean, but she will be making stops in some of the ports in the Canadian maritimes before heading back up the St. Lawrence Seaway.
If you are interested in joining the ship for this 21-day adventure, please call Mary in the office at 613–596–6258.
If tall ship adventures on the high seas is not for you, perhaps you'd prefer a more usual summer camp in the Ottawa area. If so, check out
